Eco - School Award

As of July 2024 St Peter's has been awarded Eco School status with Distinction!!

After we submitted our application, the Eco-School's team sent us an email highlighting a number of things they were pleased with including:

‘’Thank you so much for sharing examples of pupil’s work in your application, they really helped our team understand and appreciate the environmental learning occurring in your school. "

"Your Eco-Committee have used an impressive variety of methods to promote sustainability and keep their school community informed about their Eco-Schools’ initiatives throughout the academic year. "

"We are thrilled to see the incredible successes you’ve achieved since joining the Eco-Schools initiative. The planting of over 140 trees was a fantastic achievement. The Forest School program has been outstanding, with every class benefiting from a well-structured schedule of engaging activities. Moreover, the Gardening Club's early achievements, from preparing raised beds to harvesting the first crops of vegetables and herbs, are truly commendable. "

"Congratulations! Your application truly stood out, and we’re thrilled to award you an Eco-Schools’ Green Flag with Distinction! Keep up the fantastic work next year!"

RightsRespectingSchoolsAward(RRSA)

The Rights Respecting Schools Award puts children’s rights at the heart of schools in the UK.

Unicef works with schools in the UK to create safe and inspiring places to learn, where children are respected, their talents are nurtured and they are able to thrive. Our Rights Respecting Schools Award embeds these values in daily school life and gives children the best chance to lead happy, healthy lives and to be responsible, active citizens.

Using the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) as our guide, UNICEF are working with more UK schools than almost any other organisation. Over 1.5 million children in the UK go to a Rights Respecting School and more than 4,500 schools up and down the country are working through the Award. Schools work with UNICEF on a journey to become fully Rights Respecting.

The Award recognises a school’s achievement in putting the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child into practice within the school and beyond.'

At St Peter's, we believe in the ethos and spirit behind this award. We are delighted to have achieved the UNICEF Rights Respecting School Bronze Award. This means we have shown evidence of being 'Rights Committed'.

We now intend to work towards achieving the SILVER: Rights Aware stage of the Rights Respecting School journey.

School Games Award

We are thrilled to share that St Peter’s has been awarded the prestigious School Games Platinum Mark for the 2024/25 academic year!

This Government-led award, launched in 2012 and delivered by the Youth Sport Trust, recognises schools for their outstanding commitment to promoting and developing competitive sport both within school and across the wider community.

Earning the Platinum Mark is a testament to the dedication of our staff, students, and community partners—and we are incredibly proud to be recognised for our continued success in school sport.
